Frequently Asked Questions

Everything before your first visit.

Clear answers about booking, treatment, and what to expect at Motiva.

01 · Getting Started

Before your first appointment.

Do I need to know which treatment I need before I book?

No. If you’re not sure what you need, a physiotherapy assessment is a good place to start. We’ll listen to your concerns, assess your movement and symptoms, explain what we find, and recommend an appropriate plan. You can also use our care finder for guidance.

What happens during my first physiotherapy appointment?

Your first visit focuses on understanding what is limiting you. We review your concerns and goals, assess movement, strength, mobility and function, discuss our findings, and outline a personalized treatment and rehabilitation plan.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily and, when possible, gives access to the area being assessed. For example, shorts can be helpful for a knee or lower-limb assessment.

What should I bring with me?

Bring any relevant medical information you already have, such as imaging reports, surgical instructions, specialist recommendations, or a list of medications if they relate to your concern. If you have insurance coverage, bring the information you may need for your own records or claim.

Will I be able to complete my intake information before I arrive?

Yes. Once Motiva's secure clinical system is connected, patients will be able to complete intake information before their visit. Until then, please do not submit personal health information through general website forms or email.

02 · Treatment & Recovery

Care built around your recovery.

How do you decide which treatment is right for me?

We base your plan on the assessment, your symptoms, your movement, your goals and your stage of recovery. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, exercise, movement retraining, education, IMS/dry needling or other appropriate options available at Motiva.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

There is no single number that fits everyone. The frequency and duration of care depend on the condition, how long it has been present, your health, your goals and how you respond to treatment. We’ll discuss progress with you and adjust the plan as needed.

Will I receive exercises to do at home?

When appropriate, yes. A home program can help reinforce what you work on in the clinic, build strength and mobility, and give you practical tools to maintain progress between visits.

Do you provide hands-on physiotherapy treatment?

Yes. Depending on your assessment, your plan may include hands-on treatment alongside exercise, education and movement-based rehabilitation. We select techniques based on your presentation rather than using the same approach for everyone.

Can you help after surgery or a joint replacement?

Yes. Motiva offers post-surgical rehabilitation designed to help restore mobility, rebuild strength, improve function and support a safe return to everyday activities based on your procedure and recovery stage.

03 · Focused Care

Support for different stages of life and recovery.

What can pelvic health physiotherapy help with?

Pelvic health physiotherapy may help with concerns such as pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse and postpartum recovery. Care is private, respectful and individualized to your symptoms, comfort and goals.

Do you treat dizziness, balance problems or concussion symptoms?

Yes. We offer concussion and vestibular physiotherapy for concerns including dizziness, balance problems and symptoms following concussion. Assessment helps determine the appropriate rehabilitation approach.

Do you provide neurological rehabilitation?

Yes. Neurological rehabilitation can support people living with conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and other neurological concerns, with treatment focused on function, mobility, strength and individual goals.

Do you work with seniors?

Yes. Geriatric physiotherapy can address arthritis, mobility, balance and strength, with the goal of supporting independence, confidence and quality of life.

Do you offer physiotherapy for infants and children?

Yes. Paediatric physiotherapy services include support for infant torticollis, gross motor delays, developmental concerns and other movement-related needs.
